Filter coffee · Updated October 14, 2026
Aiden is for brewed coffee drinkers, with configurable brewing profiles and support for a single cup or a carafe. We look at when those controls are useful.
Review method: This is a research-based buying review using current manufacturer information, not a hands-on test. Suitability judgments below are our editorial assessment; cup quality and long-term reliability have not been measured.

Who it suits
Our clearest use-case is someone who buys interesting beans and wants a brewer that leaves room for curiosity. Before buying, decide whether you actually want to compare recipes or whether a familiar, repeatable pot of coffee is the priority. There is no requirement to become a coffee hobbyist to enjoy a morning cup.
It also makes sense to compare serving patterns: do you alternate between coffee for yourself and coffee for guests? Consider that pattern separately from your desire for a particular drink style.
What you gain—and what you still need
Reasons to shortlist it
- A filter-focused route to brewing control.
- Room to experiment with recipes.
- A single-cup and carafe approach.
Reasons to reconsider
- It does not replace an espresso-and-milk setup.
- Extra settings may be unnecessary for your routine.
- Include a grinder or ground coffee in your setup planning.
Our editorial assessment is that configurable profiles are most attractive when you will revisit them. For a household that only wants a straightforward pot, compare the cost and routine with a simpler brewer instead of assuming more controls always improve the purchase.
Make the setup work for you
Allocate space for filters, beans and any separate grinder you choose. Begin with one coffee and one repeatable recipe before changing several variables together. That makes your own observations easier to understand, even without laboratory equipment.
Read Fellow’s official care guide and check the included safety manual for maintenance. Do not use a generic espresso-cleaning routine for a filter brewer.
Aiden or an espresso machine?
If your favorite drink is a latte, compare the Ninja Luxe Café Premier or Oracle Jet instead. Start with the drink, then consider features and budget. Our four-machine comparison makes that decision easier.

Quick questions
Do I need the app to brew?
Fellow says Aiden works without the app and recommends syncing for firmware updates and current features.
Is it an espresso maker?
No. Choose it for filter coffee; choose an espresso-focused setup if that is the style you want.
