There is no universal grinder number

“Setting 12” on one grinder will not mean the same thing on another. Start with the manufacturer’s range for your method, then make small changes while keeping the dose and water amount consistent.

Grind is only one part of the brew

A slow or fast brew can also come from the recipe, filter, preparation or equipment. Taste alone does not identify a single cause. Make one change, note the result and repeat before changing another variable.
